PowerPoint Project

Reflection:

This project was more challenging than I had expected. It combined two aspects of education: research and technology. I enjoyed doing the work but it took more time than I had anticipated. It was very difficult to insert animations and sound. I failed with both. However, I am optimistic and ready to learn from my mistakes in order to move forward and be more knowledgeable in my PowerPoint skills. Furthermore I also put in to practice something I had learned in class while doing this project. For the first time I used (shift + tab) to organize my bullets. Overall I believe I met the projects standards, although I missed a few marks. The NETS standards this project met were NETS standard 1 a through d, NETS standard 2a, NETS standard 3 a and b and NETS standard 4 a through c. It met all of the needs of standard 1 because it promoted learning though digital creativity, taught students about real world events, had an area for reflection and engaged students using innovative tools. I enjoyed this project.

Crayola Creativity Central One of my favorite tools from my childhood, Crayola continues to inspire me. This website offers lesson plan ideas for a variety of subjects, especially for visual arts.
The Art Institute of Chicago This school was actually my topic choice when I was college searching but unfortunately due to financial reasons I could not attend. However, they do provide art lesson plans on their site.
Davis School Arts Magazine With ideas submitted from various art teachers there's much variety in these plans and since its a magazine there's always something new posted often!
Teachers.net I liked this site because it had lesson plans, projects and also an art teachers forum. I like the interaction provided with forums
Theteacherscorner.net this website provided lesson with a large age and ability range, from elementary to adult lessons. I liked this variety.

Word Document Assignment

Reflection
This project was enjoyable. It was good practice for future opportunities that may involve doing the same work. In the future I can use the techniques I learned here to create my own field trip letters, tests, and announcements. By incorporating graphics the project was fun and personal. Also by using the graphics the project reached to meet more NETS.T standards. The project met the NETS.T standards 5, 3(c) and 2(c). It met standard #5 by enabling effective communication and leadership through the use of digital technology. Standard #3 was met by the project’s ability to relay ideas effective to students and peers while using digital formats. The project met standard #2 by allowing for a personalized learning activity through the use of digital media. I found this project useful and pleasing.

My Teaching Philosophy

Between potential and knowledge sits a hopeful individual. That hopeful person can reach out to the two components, but may not be able to grasp them. The help of a teacher may be needed in order for the individual to embrace the knowledge and potential that surrounds him or her. With the help of a teacher a bond is formed in which all students are able to grow. Every student is entitled to being a part of this connection and I would also like to be a part of it as a teacher.
Teachers facilitate knowledge. As a teacher one must motivate and support each of his or her students unconditionally. This holds true regardless of any differences between the students. Teachers are responsible for ensuring an equal education amongst everyone of their students. Every individual has the right to a just education. The material must be presented by the teacher in various manners so that all individuals understand. A teacher must incorporate lessons that involve multiple learning styles and activate multiple intelligences within the students. In order to do so a teacher must be able to adapt to the different needs of the students to make sure that no student is lagging. The students’ needs are specific to the types of lifestyles and cultures they are exposed to. Teachers need to be informed and accepting of these lifestyles and cultures that affect their students.
The school is intended to be a second home for students. For this to hold true it is the responsibility of the school’s faculty and administration to guarantee a safe and healthy atmosphere for all of the students. In order for the school to be safe the faculty must acknowledge, accept and understand the eccentric family cultures of their students. The administration must also be accepting and coherent with the culture of the area the school is located in. This culture relates to the area’s economic status and cultural statistics. It is the responsibility of the administration to set an appropriate budget for the school. This budget must allow for necessary resources in all departments including technology.
Regardless of a school’s socioeconomic background it is important to incorporate technology into every student’s education. Technology has been a continually expanding subject that is climaxing at this present time. Due to its importance in our current society it must become a regular part of the education process. It is of great importance to include the use of technology in today’s classrooms because many professions actively use technology. This being said we must adapt our students to being familiar with technology.
The ways to incorporate technology into classrooms are endless. My approach as a teacher would certainly include using power point presentations on a large screen as visuals. This method is greatly useful to art educators because it allows them to inspire students with visuals. Another way I would incorporate technology is by assigning research papers with strict guidelines in order to prepare secondary school students for college. I believe many schools lack this preparation and it is inexcusable. My goal is to ensure that all of my students are comfortable and proficient when using technology.
Teachers are the bridge in which students use to get to their destinies. Like bridges teachers must be supportive yet flexible to withstand the pressure of transporting their students gracefully
